VETO president Paul Casbolt says a letter from Energex to residents affected by the Loganlea to Jimboomba power line is an attempt to "whitewash" the issue.
The letter, signed by group manager customer advocacy Mike Swanston, outlines progress on the various stages of the project.
Mr Swanston thanks residents for co-operating with survey and soil test crews and says "that part of the project is now complete".
"No issues of concern were found, with stable soil structure at all places along the easements," he writes.
Mr Casbolt disputes this claim, saying survey work on his own property was not complete, as well as others he has spoken to.
He also questioned Mr Swanston's assertion that "a number of the easement compensation agreements (are) now finished and others at the stage of final negotiation".
"I smell a rat. He's claiming its all hunky dory," he said.
The letter concludes by declaring the negotiations with Logan City Council over.
"While it has been Energex's objective to reach a negotiated outcome with the council it is now clear that this cannot be achieved," Mr Swanston said.
"Hence Energex advises it will now progress with the construction of the line as planned and that the offer to relocate the line has been closed."
Mr Casbolt said he did not believe Energex was ever genuine in its negotiations.
"Normally negotiations involve some give and take but all they do is take," he said.
Mr Swanston writes the work to relocate part of the power line onto the Camp Cable Road reserve is progressing well.
He says the civil construction work for the five kilometre underground section from Kingston to the end of Logan Reserve Road is complete and the final design of the section from Logan Reserve Road to Pioneer Drive is also complete.
