LOGAN MP Michael Pucci has encouraged council to rethink its stance on contributing ratepayers' money to relocate the Loganlea to Jimboomba power line.
Negotiations to move the power line off the Logan River broke down last week after council rejected a $5 million ultimatum from Energex CEO Terry Effeney.
Mr Pucci, who criticised the power line plan alongside other LNP candidates in his campaign for the seat of Logan, said he was "very disappointed that council and Energex could not come to an agreement".
Mr Pucci said he did not believe Energex's decision was final and said he would continue fighting for a win-win solution.
"I will continue to work with council and the community for a desired outcome," he said.
"I encourage council to consider a contribution it could make to the possibility of moving the route."
Mr Pucci said Energex's demand for a $5 million contribution to the cost of relocating the power line was bound by law to prevent "gold plating".
"The government does not support the gold plating of the electricity network because this means higher prices for Queensland families and businesses," Mr Pucci said.
"Power lines should be built at the least cost possible."
