TANKS and dams were topped up over the weekend with more than 40 millimetres of rain falling in the Jimboomba region.
Bureau of Meteorology record-keeper Doug Johnson recorded 43 millimetres over the weekend at his South Maclean property.
He said the rainfall was unusual for August, typically one of the region's driest months.
"For the month of August the mean rainfall is 41, and the median is 26," he said.
Mr Johnson said the heavy rain was a welcome change after a very dry start to the year.
"The whole year's been dry. To the end of June we only had 305 millimetres, well that's half of what we should have had," he said.
Cedar Grove grazier David Brennan recorded 46 millimetres but feared it would make little difference to pastures.
"The wind is blowing here today (Monday), it's just going to blow it all away," he said.
Mr Brennan has been feeding supplements to his 1200 head of cattle, which are moved between Cedar Grove and his property at Boonah. He said if the region did not get more rain in the coming weeks, he would have to reduce stock.
The weekend's rainfall was solid across the district with Greenbank recording 43 millimetres, Beaudesert, 38, and Waterford receiving a whopping 76 millimetres.
