BOOKS, books and more books were on display at Logan Reserve State School on Wednesday when students gathered to celebrate Children's Book Week.
Well loved literary characters such as Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and Harry Potter came alive as teachers and students alike dressed up.
Well known children's author Nette Hilton whose work includes award winning stories such as A Proper Little Lady and The Web, delighted the students by reading some of her stories out loud as well as conducting a question and answer session.
School principal Penny Eising said Ms Hilton had attended several book weeks at the school over the years as its official author in residence.
Ms Eising said book week was an opportunity for children to celebrate literature, the most important part of the new Australian school system.
Students took part in an array of activities including a book fair, a book swap, and a parade to show off their costumes.
Senior students also buddied up with their younger classmates to help them practise their reading skills.
Kate Neill, 10, said the best part of the day was choosing a book to buy from the book fair.
"I love reading, there are so many books here, it's hard to choose which ones to get."
