STRENGTHENING the family unit and creating homes filled with joy will be the focus of a five-week parenting course run by Jimboomba chaplain Jamie Sharp.
Mr Sharp said he has seen many too parents at the end of their tether and wanted to offer them support and guidance.
"Parenting is difficult, and today family life is under tremendous pressure," he said.
"The breakdown of the family unit affects the well-being of children and it affects society.
"The inspiration behind this program is to let all parents and carers know that they are not alone with their challenges."
Mr Sharp said the course would focus on love and relationship building, not discipline.
"It is designed to equip parents and carers and even parents-to-be, with long term strategies to build a healthy family life," he said.
"The practical tools of the course are applicable to everyone who has a responsibility for a child, whether they consider themselves to have strong parenting skills or are struggling."
Each two-hour session will include refreshments, a DVD viewing and group discussion.
While the course has been based on Christian principals, Mr Sharp said this is not the main focus and it has been designed for all parents and carers regardless of faith or belief.
A fee of $20 is being asked to cover the cost of workbooks and refreshments, however if this figure will stop you from attending, Mr Sharp said other arrangements can be made.
The course will be held each Friday at Woodhill State School, from 9.30am to 11.30am, Jimboomba State School, from 1pm to 3pm, and JC Family Church, from 7pm to 9pm, beginning August 15.
