JIMBOOMBA netballers were joined by netballers from as far afield as Fassifern and Sunnybank on Friday to take part in a clinic with Queensland Firebirds players.
More than 100 young netball players from ages 5 to 16 took part in the event at the Jimboomba Netball Association grounds, designed to bring the Firebirds to areas which did not regularly get visits from them.
As part of the clinic, Firebirds players Nicola Gray and Verity Simmons went through several exercises including footwork, ball handling and agility.
The junior players enjoyed the clinic immensely, gaining a lot from it and relishing in the chance to meet their sporting heroes in person.
Jimboomba netballer Ashlee Challis, 9, said it was "pretty cool" to have the Firebirds visit and she had gotten a lot out of the clinic.
"I learnt when shooting to put my opposite foot forward. It gives you more power," she said.
Firebirds player Vanity Simmons said she enjoyed being able to inspire the young netballers and give back to the sport.
"If you can inspire someone to go further in netball, it's a great thing," she said.
"In my shoes, when I was younger, I would have loved to see the Firebirds come out and teach us."
Jimboomba Netball Association president Theresa Groves said they were blown away both by the Firebirds offer to visit Jimboomba and the young players' response to the clinic.
"This is a huge thing and we're really impressed," she said.
