A driver has escaped serious injury, but not a court date, after crashing his ute into a Brisbane house.
Police issued the 20-year-old Albany Creek man with a notice to appear after the ute ploughed into a low-set, wooden house on Banks Street, Newmarket, shortly before 6am.
The vehicle was removed from the property a short time later, leaving behind a trail of destruction, including smashed windows and broken gutters.
Police have charged the man with dangerous driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
The sleeping residents were not injured, but the male driver and his passenger were taken by ambulance to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Firefighters are inspecting the property to ensure that it is structurally sound, a Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.
Investigations are continuing.
