The Royal couple William and Kate will meet the people of Brisbane in a walk at Southbank on Saturday.
On Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will touch down at Amberley at approximately 11.05am where they will receive a Ceremonial Arrival and interact with men and women of the Australian Defence Forces.
Following the visit to Amberley, the royal couple will arrive at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) around 2pm for a reception co-hosted by Governor Penelope Wensley and Premier Campbell Newman for more than 200 Queenslanders including young people excelling in their fields and representatives from the homeless and welfare sector, rural areas affected by drought, the conservation, education, disability, arts, sport, health, youth development, defence and business sectors.
Their royal couple will then walk down Russell Street at South Bank. The public walk will commence at Russell Street (Grey Street end) to the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank Parklands. People are encouraged to be in position for the public walk, which is scheduled to commence at 2.50pm.
A big screen will be positioned on the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank Parklands to ensure all visitors to South Bank have a prime view of the day’s events.
Although a short visit, big crowds are expected on the day.
Visitors to South Bank should arrive in plenty of time and bring adequate food and water, a hat and sunscreen. Access to toilets will be available but limited depending on crowd numbers. Visitors are encouraged to leave umbrellas and chairs at home.
On Saturdayl there will be restricted pedestrian access and road closures along Grey and Russell Streets, South Bank.
Visitors are encouraged to make their way to South Bank via public transport which will operate on a public holiday timetable on the day. Queensland Police Service will make a statement regarding road closures.
The visit to Queensland is part of a three week tour of New Zealand and Australia by Their Royal Highnesses. This will be The Duke of Cambridge’s second official visit to Queensland and The Duchess of Cambridge’s first official visit.
