MORE than 100 businesses have been nominated in the 2014 Logan Country Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
Nominations closed last Friday, with 101 businesses, encompassing everything from large, well-known businesses to smaller boutique or home-based traders in the running.
Logan Country Chamber of Commerce president Laurie Koranski said community input had been strong and the nominations across the awards' 10 categories reflected a cross-section of the region's business community.
"It's great to see some new faces and some familiar ones returning," Ms Koranski said.
In a first for the event, nominations could be submitted online and Ms Koranski said the local community had responded well to the idea.
Ms Koranski said the chamber's business awards committee had been hard at work going over the entries, with nominated businesses contacted this week.
Nominated businesses will be sent a formal nomination pack, which will need to be completed and lodged by noon on Tuesday, April 22.
The awards will culminate in a gala presentation evening being at Emmaus College on Saturday, May 17.
Ms Koranski said last year's business awards judges - Logan Office of Economic Development manager Nick McGuire, Council Finance Chair Luke Smith and former Beaudesert Times general manager John Bartlett - would return this year.
"They did such an outstanding job last year, they have a passion for local business and they understand the value of the awards," Ms Koranski said.
Tickets for the gala awards are on sale now at $75 per person or $700 for a table of 10.
