BEAUDESERT MP Jon Krause says traffic lights at Millstream Road are needed to improve road safety in Jimboomba but does not know when the upgrade will be funded.
Mr Krause said Millstream Road was in the number two spot in the south coast Main Roads region for an upgrade under the Safer Roads Sooner program.
It would include installing traffic lights at Millstream Road, an upgrade to the intersection and a review of speed limits.
Despite talks with Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson and south coast region director about traffic and speed limit issues around Jimboomba, including Millstream Road, Mr Krause said funding was yet to be secured for an upgrade.
The Logan Country Safe City Group spoke to the Times last week about its call to have the speed limit on the Mt Lindesay Highway starting just north of Camp Cable Road to south of Millstream Road reduced to 70km/h.
The group said while the speed limit remained at 90km/h in parts of that section of road, the risk of accidents would only increase.
Mr Krause would not say if he supported the group's call, instead saying he wanted to wait for the results of the state government's speed limit review.
The section of the Mt Lindesay Highway from north of Jimboomba to Beaudesert is one of 100 state roads currently undergoing a review, which is due to be released in the second half of the year.
"I'm pushing for an upgrade of the Millstream Road intersection, to make it signalised. That would improve safety of that intersection and would also deal with the issue of speed limits around Jimboomba," Mr Krause said.
