JIMBOOMBA Little Athletics Club has achieved outstanding results at the state championships, bringing home 19 medals with seven members now new state champions.
Over the three day event in Cairns, 12 competitors from the club went up against Queensland's best, competing against more than 2000 athletes from throughout the state.
Club secretary Peta Smith said twins Amy and Liam Reynolds, surprised and delighted the crowd when they both won gold medals in their respective under 9s high jump events, which were held at the same time at opposite sides of the stadium.
Both of the twins said they supported each other 100 per cent, and were both proud of the other's result.
Centre Manager Ralph Newton, said it was a huge result for the club and praised the efforts of the athletes who competed in poor weather conditions throughout the weekend.
"Prior to this year, the club's best result came in the 2009/2010 season when our athletes won four state titles, this year we won eight, and it was achieved in appalling conditions with rain dropping almost constantly for the first two days," he said.
"We also had five other athletes who finished just outside the medals in fourth position and a further ten athletes who made finals in their events."
Other athletes to clean up at the comp was Camryn Newton-Smith, who was a dual gold medallist, winning the under 14s javelin throw with a Queensland record of 41.04m and won the 80m hurdles.
She also placed second in high jump and won a bronze medal in the 200m hurdles.
Connie Murray won a complete set of gold, silver and bronze medals, placing first in the under 15s 200m, second in the 100m and third in the 400m.
Mitchell McKay won the under 12s 400m after placing second in the event last year.
He also won a silver medal in the 200m.
Tianah List added another gold medal to her collection, winning the under 15s girls javelin.
Under 17s athlete Kendal Newton-Smith, who finishes up with Little Athletics this year after 12 years in the sport, won gold in the high jump and bronze in the javelin.
Ben Roberts won silver in the under 12s javelin with a 34m throw while Rhys Roser won silver in the under 9s 700m walk.
